PLANNED IMPROVEMENTS

PHASE 1: New Music Centre

  • The property purchased on the corner of Twickenham Ave and Cookham Road will be converted into a new music centre. Seven private teaching rooms, a large common room and a ‘music garden’ will link the new centre to the existing hall. The hall will open out onto the garden to create a spacious music and drama hub. Covered verandas will link the new building to the existing school, in keeping with the look and feel of APPS.
  • The staff parking will be relocated to the new property. This will open up the paved, shady courtyard adjacent to the classrooms behind the hall. It will be used as a hard surface play area for the girls.

PHASE 2: Modifications to Existing School Property

  • Improvements to the office and administration block will be made, including new dedicated meeting rooms for staff and parents, toilets and relocation of the school shop. The Design and Technology and Art rooms will be opened up onto the existing courtyard for use as an exhibition court.
  • The current hall, music centre and surrounds become the cultural hub of the school.

PHASE 3: New School Hall and Library Extension

  • To comfortably accommodate the entire school body, a new school hall is planned.  This will be built on and adjacent to the area currently used as staff parking. It will not replace the existing hall, but is intended as a multifunctional space with a first floor viewing gallery. It will be used for assemblies, drama productions and indoor extra-mural activities.
  • The APPS library, while well equipped is much in need of expansion. The plan to relocate the staff room much closer to the office block (in the rooms vacated by the music department) will free up sufficient space to enlarge the library.
  • The library, science block and computer room will then function effectively together as an academic and research hub.
