Deputy Head Girl and Head Girl for Term 2

The Grade Sevens are having a very busy but exciting second term.

Nominations and voting for this term’s Head Girl and Deputy Head Girl took place in the first week. Congratulations goes to Naseerah Laher for being elected as Head Girl and Melissa Mushonga as Deputy Head. We know they will lead the school, with the support of the other Grade Sevens, well.

The girls are involved in a reading programme. By answering a questionnaire they determined their own reading level and set themselves a goal of how many books to read in a 2 month period. Many of them have reached their goal and will be rewarded with a movie ticket. The next phase of the programme has been launched and now one third of the books they read have to be short stories or pictorial novels. We are hoping that some girls may be introduced to some new genres that they find they enjoy.

After a few weeks of auditions for the annual school play the cast for ‘Alice in Wonderland’ was chosen and now rehearsals are well underway. The girls are loving the time they are spending on stage and they are looking forward to performing, in their wonderful costumes, in front of packed audiences.

Hardly a breath can be drawn between the last performance of the play and setting off on school tour. This year, along with the Grade Sixes, we are going to Lapalala Wilderness Camp. Many exciting activities have been arranged, including sleeping under the stars and working shifts to ‘guard’ the camp fire.

Every Friday the girls look great in their yellow and green soccer supporter shirts as we celebrate Football Friday. In true soccer fever style we will be involved, with the rest of the school, in a fun day of soccer on Saturday 5 June.

After this jam packed term we will all be looking forward to the 9 June when we break up for our long 5 week break!
