Grandparents’ Day began with our Grade 0 girls singing for an audience who were biased, to say the least! No one loves our children quite like their grandparents and the hall was filled with so much love. Our little ones sang with great gusto and would have carried on singing if they had had half the chance! Well done, girls!
Music is a discipline which requires just that – discipline. It is sometimes a lonely calling, especially for a child who has to practice alone, when everyone else seems to be having ’fun’. With this in mind, it is phenomenal how our girls consistently and continually improve, raising the standard of our school’s music.
We had three most enjoyable concerts and look forward to listening to the new pupils next term. The Easter Service was beautifully delivered by our Grade 7 class and there was many a wet eye in the audience. The message came across sensitively and certainly made us all think about the true meaning of Easter. The girls sang just as well as ever and they can all be proud of their efforts.
On Sunday 14 March, our Grade 6 and 7 girls were invited to sing at St Columba’s Church in Parkview at their evening service. 36 girls attended and learnt that the St Columba’s church community serves about 300 outreach projects. Our girls learnt that if someone needs a pair of shoes or a hot meal, the church community is always there to provide. By singing at their service we were giving back to our community in our own special way and we were honoured and privileged to have been included in this service.
We have acquired two new marimbas which will accommodate four girls and we look forward to hearing the girls perform at our annual production.
We would like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to Mr Tony North who has kindly donated a brand new drum kit for our aspiring drummers. The new term is going to be exciting and busy and we will keep you posted about the exciting events that are due to take place.
Have a wonderful holiday.
Yours musically
Mrs Kathy Salgado
