Safety and Security

There was almost a very serious accident recently when a car that had been parked in Twickenham Avenue reversed while a child was running behind the car.  Parents are urged to please ensure that when their daughters leave their cars, they look first and only walk when it is safe.  Children must not run between cars.

Mkhululi Moyo is our security guard from ISS and is posted at the main gate to APPS.  From his observations whilst he has been with us, he has suggested the following to parents and caregivers of children at APPS:

  • Parents who anticipate staying longer than the usual drop off and collection times, should ensure that they come to APPS earlier or later than the peak drop off and collection times in order to secure a car park close to where the guards are positioned.  Parents who are parked relatively far away should try not to stay away from their car for too long;
  • Vehicle doors must be locked and windows completely closed which will ensure that the car alarm goes off if the car is tampered with;
  • Do not leave valuables inside vehicles as this entices criminals:
  • Children and babies must not be left unattended in vehicles;
  • Be on the look out for criminals driving behind you, perhaps waiting for the perfect opportunity to pounce!
  • Don’t forget to buckle up!
