LEADERSHIP ROLES FOR GIRLS |
Up to the end of Grade Five, the girls are given duties by class teachers and become monitors. These positions are rotated, so that each child is given an opportunity to take on responsibility.
In Grade Six, the girls vote for a class captain, vice captain and house captains.
In Grade Seven these positions are voted for by Grade Six and Seven girls and the staff. Grade Seven girls nominate the Head Girl and Deputy Head Girl, Grade Six and Seven girls and the teachers vote for the Head Girl and Deputy Head Girl. Votes are weighted. Sports and other captains are selected in a similar fashion by the Grade 5 to 7 girls in that house. In Grade Seven, the Head Girl and Deputy Head Girl are elected for one term and fulfil the role of ‘class captain’ and ‘vice captain’ for the term. The House Captains and House Sports Captains retain their positions for the year. Other important Grade Seven positions are allocated to spread responsibility fairly.
