FLOWER FESTIVAL / OPEN DAY |
This festival is in celebration of the school’s birthday on 4 October and takes place on the Friday closest to that day. All pupils from Grade Nought to Grade Seven bring flowers from home to arrange in the category designated to that year group. Parents are invited to view the flower arrangements and join the special birthday Assembly. A guest, who is knowledgeable on flower arranging, views the children’s work and addresses the girls. The delicious birthday cake is baked by mums or the staff and girls. The candles on the enormous cake are lit by the youngest and oldest girls in the school, ‘Happy Birthday to APPS’ is sung and a piece of cake is enjoyed by everyone.
The day is also an Open Day at APPS and members of the public are invited to visit the school. The Grade 7 girls take the visitors around the school and it is an ideal opportunity for the girls to show off their school and it is a special time for visitors to see our school.
