Detention takes place, when necessary, on a Thursday from 13:30 to 14:30 and is controlled by school staff.  Detentions are usually handed out after a child has been given three black marks.  This is at the discretion of the school staff and is dependent on the circumstances.  Slips signed by the teacher, the Headmistress or Deputy Headmistress are sent to parents for countersigning and must be returned to school.  Detailed reasons are given and records kept of detentions.  Black marks are given for example, for work not handed in on time.
